Manchester United - Marseille

Manchester United welcome Olympique Marseille in the second leg of the Last 16 round in the Champions League. After the first leg in France finished 0:0, United will hope for a win on Tuesday night that will see them through to the quarter finals and I think the English side have the quality to do this.

Manchester United are currently leading the way in the English Premier League despite losing two consecutive games for the first time in more than three years. On Saturday, Sir Alex Ferguson outsmarted Arsene Wenger once again and the Red Devils eased past Arsenal (2:0) in the FA Cup quarter finals. United have not had the best results at home in the Champions League this season (1-2-0) and they will hope for a win this time. Rio Ferdinand, Park Ji-Sung and Anderson will definitely miss the game but Nani trained with the squad on Monday morning and this is good news for the team. United’s home record this season is brilliant (18-3-0) and everything but the “1” will be a surprise.

Olympique Marseille have had quite a decent season so far and they are currently sitting in 4th place in the French League despite beating title contenders Rennes 2:0 away from home. Didier Deschampes will look to take this inspired performance into the second clash with United on Tuesday but the French side will definitely find it very difficult and intimidating at Old Trafford. Loic Remy, Andre Gignac and Andre Ayew will be the options upfront for Deschampes but he will certainly concentrate his team’s games around the defensive line. However, Marseille’s form away from home has been impressive in recent weeks as the team have won four of the last five games on the road.

The game on Tuesday, however, will be very different from the ones that Marseille usually get involve into, and I think that Manchester United will just have too much for the French side.
