Bayern Munich - Inter Milan

Bayern Munich take on Inter Milan on Tuesday night in the second leg of their Last 16 clash in the Champions League. The first game between the two teams at San Siro proved to be a real classic and it was a very open match with lots of goalscoring opportunities for both teams. The second game should be no different to that an my pick here is the “Over 2.5 goals” option.

Bayern Munich obviously do not stand a chance for the title in the German Bundesliga given the season that Borussia Dortmund are having. The Bavarians are currently 15 points behind them and their realistic aim will be the 3rd place that guarantees Champions League participation next season. Bayern put and end to their run of three consecutive defeats on Saturday when they crashed Hamburger 6:0 at Alianz Arena. Arjen Roben seems to be back to his best after netting a hattrick and Louis van Gaal will hope his winger to stay in the same form. Bayern Munich’s 13 of the last 14 games finished with 3 or more goals.

Inter Milan slipped against Brescia on Friday night in the Italian Serie A (1:1) but the draw of their rivals Milan against Bari (1:1) leaves the Nerrazzuri in the battle for the Scudetto. Inter are currently five points behind Milan and still got good chances of retaining the title so this might affect their performance in the Champions League. Moreover, the defeat in the first leg does not leave them with huge chances but Leonardo declared he and the team would do their best. Samuel Eto’o and Wesley Snejder will be once again the main threat for the opposition. Inter have finished five of the seven Champions League games this season with three or more goals.

All these stats plus the nature of a second leg in a competitions like the Champions League speak in favour of an open, highscoring game and that is why I back the “Over” here.
