Bosnia-Herzegovina take on Romania in a game from Group D in the European Championships qualification round on Saturday evening. The game will be played in Zenica at Stadion Bilino Polje and I expect a very tight game which means that I will go for the “Under 2.5 goals” option here.
Bosnia-Herzegovina did not start their campaign in the best possible way and they will want to correct this as soon as possible. Bosnia lie in 4th place in their group with only 4 points from three games played. After the bright start to the qualification round and the 3:0 win away at Luxembourg, Bosnia lost at home to France 0:2 and drew away at Albania 1:1 and this means they are now four points away from the second spot that will guarantee them at least participation in the play-offs for the finals next year. Bosnia’s three of the last five games in all competitions finished with two or less goals scored and I see this as the best option for their home game against Romania.
Romania are also doing well below their best as they have only gained 2 points from the three games that they have played so far. These points came from two draws against the likes of Belarus (1:1 away from home) and Albania (1:1 in Romania) and their coach Razvan Lucescu will try to get his team back on the winning ways on Saturday night. Bogdan Stancu will be the main threat for Bosnia Herzegovina. The Romanians’ last three official international games finished with two or less goals scored given the nature of the game on Friday I think that this is once again highly possible.
Both teams will be very careful not to lose the game as this will most probably end their chances of qualification but at the same time another dropping of points might also end their aim. All in all, a tough game to predict but I think that the “Under” seems the most reasonable bet.
